In The Land Of Tigers
This 10 day journey through Pench and Tadoba places you in the heart of two of India’s most productive tiger reserves, where the focus is on atmosphere, layered habitats and photographing predators within a rich environmental context that adds depth and story to every frame.
Pench offers open woodland, gentle light and classic forest scenes, with tigers moving through dappled shade alongside deer, monkeys and birdlife, making it ideal for working on composition, framing and anticipating behaviour. Tadoba is bolder and more dramatic, with higher tiger density and varied terrain that create opportunities for stronger portraits, interactions and moments of tension between predator and prey, challenging you to respond quickly to changing light and behaviour. Together the two reserves give you a broader understanding of tiger behaviour and habitat and a more varied portfolio.
Each drive is taken at a pace that suits photography, with time to think about light, positioning and what the animal might do next, and with just two photographers per vehicle there is plenty of room to shoot comfortably and adjust your angle. Sightings are never guaranteed, but this region supports one of the largest populations of wild Bengal tigers on Earth, and you should also keep your camera ready for leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, chital, birds of prey and forest scenes rich in texture. Two photo guides and a naturalist accompany every safari, offering technical support tailored to your camera, advice on exposure, focus and sequence shooting, composition coaching suited to forest light, constructive feedback and background on what you are witnessing.
Days follow morning and afternoon safaris timed around the best light, with optional cultural or birding explorations in the afternoons. You will stay in well-appointed lodges near the reserves, with transfers, meals, safari permits and core logistics included so you can concentrate on photography. Limited to just 6 guests and welcoming all levels, the expedition suits photographers who value patient, creative image-making and personalised attention over generic safari commentary.
