Description:

The best time to see the Great Migration in the Masai Mara is from July to October when 1,5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebra, 12,000 eland and 300,000 Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles trek from southern Serengeti to the Masai Mara. The biggest mammal trek in the world follows the rains. The herds travel 800 kilometers clockwise in a circle through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of greener, mineral rich pastures and water. During this time we will have the best opportunities to take stunning wildlife images.

After a relaxing night in Nairobi, we will visit and stay two nights at Lake Naivasha, the highest freshwater lake within the Great Rift Valley. The lake shore is surrounded by old colonial houses, small villages of thatch and clay houses and flower farms. Lake Naivasha is famous for its high populations of hippos and flamingos. There are over 1,500 hippos in the area, and you are almost guaranteed to see one. We will embark on two boat rides where we can encounter fish eagles, ospreys, cormorants, and hippos. Giraffes, zebras, impalas, and waterbucks can be sighted in the immediate vicinity of Lake Naivasha, around Crescent Island -we may even get a glimpse of a leopard.

After this scenic stop we will continue to Lake Nakuru National Park, the home of millions of flamingoes that dot the shores of the lake pink. We will stay two nights at the park. The area is the home of the White and Black Rhinos together with the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, over 400 bird species, buffalos, waterbucks, lions, impalas and more.

From Lake Nakuru we will move on to the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara extends all the way to the neighboring Serengeti Reserve in Tanzania. It is known for the “Big Five” (African elephant, lion, leopard, Cape buffalo, and rhinoceros). At the Masai Mara we will stay 4 relaxing nights. You will find a stunning kaleidoscope of wild and rugged landscapes, warm and welcoming people and an exciting array of animals. At the reserves we will have morning and afternoon game drives to view these amazing animals up close.

What makes this safari different from others?

This tour will be limited to a small group, individual attention is guaranteed. We will travel in a specialty 4×4 safari vehicle, which allows for maximum viewing capacity. We will stay at upscale safari camps with plenty of amenities, wonderful meals, well-appointed rooms, and breathtaking vistas. Not only will we photograph and view wildlife, but we will also concentrate on our natural surroundings, landscapes, sunrises and sunsets as well as cultural aspects. This small group setup will give us the flexibility to linger longer and to address the individual interests and needs of each client. We will make time for one-on-one photo processing sessions and image reviews. Our tours are conducted in a relaxed and fun atmosphere with free time to enjoy the natural surroundings.
